UHMWPE Pipe – Product Overview
Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) pipes are manufactured from premium UHMWPE raw materials with a viscosity average molecular weight ranging from 3.5 million to 9.2 million. Produced through high-temperature and high-pressure extrusion using specialized equipment, UHMWPE is an exceptionally tough engineering plastic known for its outstanding wear, abrasion, and impact resistance.
UHMWPE pipes are widely used in mining, electric power, coal handling, chemical processing, and other demanding industrial sectors. They are especially suitable for slurry transportation, dredging operations, mine tailings, ash handling, and slag conveyance, where extreme abrasion and harsh operating conditions are common. These properties make UHMWPE pipes an ideal solution for slurry and dredging pipeline systems.
Advantages of UHMWPE Pipes
» Up to 40 times higher abrasion resistance than steel
» Approximately 8 times lighter than steel, reducing handling and installation effort
» Coefficient of friction up to 5 times lower than steel, improving flow efficiency
» Pressure loss only about 1/10 of steel pipes, resulting in lower energy consumption
» Impact resistance approximately 5 times higher than HDPE pipes
» Compressive strength about 2 times that of PE100 pipes
» Extremely low friction coefficient (~0.009), improving transmission efficiency by over 20%
» Excellent low-temperature performance, capable of operating at temperatures down to –70 °C
» High elongation at break (≥ 350%), offering superior flexibility and crack resistance
